We saw the horse races and even got a few bucks by placing wagers on a few. The track isn't elegant, and the outside area is usually filled up. Non smokers would not do well in the outside viewing areas. The kids have a play area and some have a chance to pet a horse. I loved the experience and will return soon.
Our suite was clean and spacious with nice view of the track once we got into it and the jacuzzi was very relaxing at the end of the day. Unfortunately our room was not ready on time, which almost caused us to be late for the wedding we were attending. When I reserved the room I was told we could check in any time after 3:00 but the room wasn't ready until around 3:45. We made the front desk aware that we needed to change before the wedding (being held at the hotel) at 4:00 but they didn't offer even the slightest apology for not having the rooms ready on time
Great place to stay and play, with a nice program for free play and discounts that you can join. Good food whenever we've gone, and I can generally do pretty well on the slots. The horse races are pretty cool, too.
There's a bar on the first floor mr. G's you can play the horse's from simulcast Five star Bar (fun place) with Top Shelf food. There is a you Runway into the casino where you have another bar the casinos all slots and the staff there takes great care of you
Went to Vernon Downs for a wedding. The staff was nice and helpful. Went to enter our room and 1 of our 2 newly issued keys did not work. The door was slightly bigger than the door frame so opening was a chore and loud. Because of this, the door wouldn't close on it's own. This was frustrating. Also, the floor of the bathroom was dirty. There were specks of dirt and a fairly large wood chip on the floor as well. The tile around the shower was chipped and part of the tile was missing so cosmetically it was not appealing. Despite these setbacks, the bed was clean and comfortable as were the pillows. The casino only has slots which isn't my thing. I would like to think it was seniors night at the the bar/dance floor/casino but I think those people were the regulars.... It's not for a younger crowd.
